How should I decide whether or not to have my SAT or ACT considered? Scores sent from testing agencies will be required from those students only if they enroll at Duke. We will continue to consider SAT and ACT scores as part of the application of students who choose to submit them and will accept self-reported scores for purposes of assessing an application. Our decisions are based on a student’s comprehensive application materials, with or without test scores. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. Union day School is a Candidate School* for the Diploma Programme (DP). Our 8th graders also participate in the IB MYP Community Project, a culminating project for our 8th grade students and is a way to showcase their commitment to service and action. Teachers implement criteria based assessment established by the International Baccalaureate’s Middle Years Programme and focus on the IB Learner Profile (a list of student qualities) as well as global contexts (a lens through which to view content). Our students are asked to conduct open inquiry and real-life research both locally and globally in a constructivist-oriented approach. We currently offer an IB curriculum in grades 6-8 with 9th/10th grades being officially added in 2023.
